Google has officially announced that Gemini is making its way to Google TV. This marks a major shift in how users will interact with their smart televisions, as the new AI will replace Google Assistant and introduce a suite of intelligent features designed to transform the living room experience.

Smarter viewing with AI

With Gemini on Google TV, you can chat directly with your television. Instead of scrolling endlessly, simply ask Gemini for viewing recommendations, show summaries or even season recaps before you start a new episode. If you forget the name of a series, describing it to Gemini will be enough to find it.

Beyond entertainment

Gemini is not limited to just helping you watch shows. It can act as a true companion for everyday learning and activities. From cooking recipes to learning an instrument, Gemini will bring up relevant YouTube videos and guides so you can follow along step by step without leaving your TV screen.

Easy activation

Just like Google Assistant, Gemini can be summoned with a simple “Hey Google” command or by pressing the microphone button on your remote. The experience feels familiar but delivers far more powerful results with Gemini’s advanced AI models.

Rollout and availability

Currently, Gemini on Google TV is available only on the TCL QM9K series. However, Google has confirmed that it will expand to more devices later this year. Upcoming supported models include the Google TV Streamer, 2025 Hisense U7, U8 and UX ranges, Walmart onn. 4K Pro, and TCL’s 2025 QM7K, QM8K and X11K models. Google has also promised additional Gemini-powered features in the near future.

Gemini represents a big step forward in merging artificial intelligence with home entertainment. By making television more conversational, intuitive and helpful, Google is setting the stage for a smarter living room.
