Google is pushing the boundaries of AI video creation with the official launch of its Veo 3 model on the Gemini API. Developers can now integrate this advanced video generation tool into their applications, unlocking new levels of creative control and automation. Originally unveiled at Google I/O 2025, Veo 3 is now available through Google AI Studio with a range of features that promise both flexibility and quality. However, this power comes at a price, and the new cost model marks a significant jump from its predecessor.

Veo 3 is now priced at 75 cents per second for both video and audio output, compared to 50 cents for Veo 2. That means generating a simple one-minute AI video could cost developers around 45 dollars. Despite the cost, Google is betting big on the value Veo 3 brings. The AI model supports video outputs in 720p resolution with a 24 frames-per-second rate, complete with native audio. This makes it ideal for developers looking to embed high-quality AI videos in apps, create content automation pipelines, or even build video-centric tools powered entirely by generative AI.

What makes Veo 3 stand out is its integration into the broader Gemini ecosystem. Developers can access the API via Google AI Studio, either through the SDK templates or the interactive Starter App. This setup makes it easier for developers to get started, experiment with use cases, and deploy AI video tools at scale. Importantly, only paid subscribers or those with valid API keys will be able to access the platform, meaning it’s targeted toward serious developers and enterprise use cases.

In an effort to promote responsible AI use, Google has also confirmed that all videos created using Veo 3 will be embedded with a SynthID digital watermark. This invisible marker is designed to help identify AI-generated content and prevent the spread of misinformation or malicious deepfakes. As concerns grow over misuse of synthetic media, Google is making it clear that authenticity and traceability are core to Veo’s design.

The company is also planning to introduce a new version called Veo 3 Fast. This variant aims to reduce both latency and cost, although no official release date has been shared yet. The Fast version could prove valuable for users who need quicker outputs at scale, such as content platforms, media startups, or educational apps that generate video summaries in real time.

Since its debut in May, Veo 3 has been available exclusively to subscribers of Google AI Pro and AI Ultra tiers. The public API availability now opens the door for a much wider range of developers to experiment with AI video generation. However, free-tier Gemini users will not be able to access Veo 3 for now.

As generative video becomes a mainstream use case, Veo 3’s rollout on the Gemini API marks a turning point. It gives developers high-resolution outputs, integrated audio, and better ecosystem tools than ever before. But with premium pricing and watermark safeguards in place, Google is making it clear that the future of AI video is about both power and responsibility.
