Apple has finally unveiled the iPhone Air at its highly anticipated September event in California. This brand new addition to the lineup replaces last year’s iPhone 16 Plus and brings a whole new dimension to Apple’s design philosophy. True to its name, the iPhone Air is Apple’s slimmest iPhone ever, measuring just 5.6 millimeters thick, while still packing in the performance and intelligence features of the iPhone 17 family.

The device carries forward the A19 Pro chip, Apple’s most advanced processor, and supports the full suite of Apple Intelligence features. With this release, Apple is positioning the iPhone Air as a perfect combination of portability and power, directly competing with ultra slim flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.

Price and Availability

The iPhone Air starts at 999 dollars in the United States for the 256GB storage variant. In India, the base model begins at Rs. 1,19,900. Higher storage options include 512GB and 1TB, priced at Rs. 1,39,900 and Rs. 1,59,900. Customers can choose from four elegant colors including Sky Blue, Light Gold, Cloud White, and Space Black. Pre orders begin on September 12 and deliveries will start globally from September 19.

Features and Specifications

The iPhone Air is an eSIM only device running on iOS 26. It features a 6.5 inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, making it one of the brightest screens in the industry. The display supports ProMotion with adaptive refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz for smooth scrolling, gaming, and video playback.

Apple has gone all in on durability while keeping the form factor slim. The iPhone Air is built using 80 percent recycled titanium, and for the first time in an iPhone, it comes with Ceramic Shield 2 protection on both the front and back. According to Apple, this makes the device up to four times more resistant to cracks, ensuring strength despite its thin profile.

Under the hood, the iPhone Air is powered by the A19 Pro SoC, which features a six core CPU, six core GPU, and a 16 core Neural Engine. This chipset, combined with second generation Dynamic Caching, ensures faster processing, smoother graphics, and enhanced efficiency. The device also features the new N1 chip for advanced connectivity, supporting Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, while the upgraded C1X modem provides twice the networking speed of last year’s iPhone 16e.

For photography enthusiasts, the iPhone Air comes equipped with a 48 megapixel Fusion main camera with sensor shift optical image stabilization and f/1.6 aperture, delivering excellent low light performance. It also supports 2x telephoto capabilities. On the front, users get an 18 megapixel camera with Centre Stage technology for selfies and video calls that always stay perfectly framed.

Apple claims the iPhone Air can deliver true all day battery life, with up to 27 hours of video playback on a single charge. Fast charging is supported, allowing the phone to reach 50 percent in just 30 minutes. While Apple has not shared the exact battery capacity, the company has emphasized efficiency and longer real world usage.

A New Chapter in the iPhone Lineup

The iPhone Air represents more than just a slimmer model. It shows Apple’s commitment to blending design elegance with uncompromised power. With its ultra thin body, bright and durable display, powerful A19 Pro chip, and the intelligence of AI features, it feels tailor made for users who want both style and performance in a single device.
