Garmin has officially launched its next generation smartwatch, the Fenix 8 Pro, in the United States. Known for pushing the boundaries of outdoor technology, Garmin has taken a big leap forward by offering this watch with both AMOLED and MicroLED display options while also adding LTE and satellite connectivity. With these features, the watch is designed to keep users connected and safe even in the most remote locations, making it one of the most advanced wearables Garmin has ever produced.
The standout feature is connectivity. With built in LTE support, the Fenix 8 Pro can make voice calls, send and receive text messages, and share location updates through LiveTrack without needing to be paired with a smartphone. The integration of Garmin’s InReach satellite service further ensures that adventurers stay in touch even when networks are unavailable. This satellite capability allows users to send location check ins and text messages directly from their wrist, offering peace of mind for outdoor explorers.
Garmin has introduced two display technologies with this release. The AMOLED model is available in 47 millimeter and 51 millimeter sizes and offers vibrant visuals with a battery life of up to 27 days. The MicroLED model, available in a 51 millimeter size, is built with more than 400,000 tiny LEDs and reaches an incredible peak brightness of 4,500 nits. This makes it the brightest Garmin smartwatch ever, ensuring perfect visibility in direct sunlight. The MicroLED version promises up to 10 days of battery life, still impressive considering the power needed for its advanced display.
The new Fenix 8 Pro is not just about display and connectivity. Garmin has packed it with its full suite of health, fitness, and navigation features. It includes endurance and hill scores, daily suggested workouts, preloaded TopoActive maps, dynamic round trip routing, and advanced training analytics. For wellness, it features a sleep coach, ECG app, and heart rate monitoring, alongside Garmin Pay and safety tracking tools. With a 10 ATM water resistance rating, it is built to handle extreme conditions with ease.
In terms of design, the AMOLED variant weighs 90 grams while the MicroLED version comes in slightly heavier at 93 grams. Both feature a 1.4 inch display with a 454 by 454 pixel resolution and always on display support.
Pricing begins at 1,199 dollars for the 47 millimeter AMOLED variant, while the 51 millimeter MicroLED version comes in at 1,999 dollars. Sales will begin in the United States on September 8 through Garmin’s official website.
The Garmin Fenix 8 Pro shows how smartwatches are evolving into fully independent companions, ready for adventure, fitness, and everyday life. With its rugged design, satellite safety features, and groundbreaking MicroLED display, it sets a new standard for high performance wearables.
