Nintendo also rolled out Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17, which has already scored an impressive 92 out of 100 on Metacritic, receiving near-universal acclaim from critics and players alike.
Experts believe this is just the beginning. Industry analyst Serkan Toto pointed out that the incredible response reflects pent-up demand for a proper successor to the original Switch, which has been a best-seller since its debut in 2017. He also emphasized that with no major competition from titles like Grand Theft Auto VI this year, Nintendo has a golden window to solidify the Switch 2’s position during the upcoming holiday season.
Adding to that momentum is the fact that the Switch 2 had the biggest launch week for any gaming hardware in the history of the US market. That alone puts it in a prime position to remain the dominant console for months to come, especially as the company gears up for its holiday slate of new game releases.
