A Major Software Shift for Vivo and iQOO Users

Vivo is preparing to launch Origin OS 6 in China on October 10, and reports suggest that Indian users may also see the new interface soon. Until now, Vivo and iQOO smartphones in India have relied on Funtouch OS, but the company appears to be moving toward unifying its global software strategy by rolling out Origin OS in more markets.
Origin OS 6 Based on Android 16
Origin OS 6 will be powered by Android 16, bringing visual refinements, new customisation options, and AI-driven features. According to leaks, the Vivo X300 and X300 Pro will be the first phones to debut with the software in China, and these could also set the stage for its introduction in India.
Gradual Phase-Out of Funtouch OS
If the reports hold true, Vivo is expected to phase out Funtouch OS in India gradually. The rollout may begin with premium models and later extend to mid-range and entry-level smartphones. This would align Indian users with the same experience that Vivo customers in China already enjoy.
Rumours and Growing Buzz
Tipster Abhishek Yadav has claimed that the switch to Origin OS in India is “confirmed,” although Vivo has yet to release an official statement. Interestingly, earlier chatter on Reddit from a supposed Vivo India employee also suggested that the shift was in motion, further fueling speculation.

What This Means for Indian Users
For consumers, the transition could mean a fresher and more unified software ecosystem, bringing features and updates in sync with Vivo’s home market. The adoption of Origin OS could also provide smoother updates and potentially a longer support cycle.
With Vivo set to unveil Origin OS 6 in just weeks, all eyes will be on whether the Indian market is next in line for the transition.
