Vivo is gearing up to expand its Y series lineup with the upcoming launch of the Vivo Y500 in China. The company shared a teaser on Weibo that offers the first glimpse of the smartphone, revealing a striking blue color option and a centrally placed circular camera module at the back. The teaser stops short of confirming the launch date, but anticipation is already building.

The Y500 is positioned as a long lasting and powerful device, expected to take over from the recently launched Vivo Y400 5G in India and the earlier Y300 model in China. While details on its full specifications remain under wraps, the teaser and Vivo’s promise of durability suggest that the device will feature meaningful upgrades in both design and performance.

The timing of the teaser is also interesting. Vivo is set to host a major launch event in China on August 21 for its Vision mixed reality headset, alongside its annual Imaging Festival. This could be the stage where the Y500 makes its official debut.

Looking back, the Vivo Y300 featured a 6.77 inch AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, a 50 megapixel main camera, and a 6,500mAh battery with fast charging support. The more recent Vivo Y400 5G in India brought a 6.67 inch AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, a 50 megapixel Sony IMX852 sensor, and a large 6,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging. With the Y500, Vivo is likely to raise the bar once again to deliver an even more powerful mid range device.

As competition heats up in this price segment, the Vivo Y500 could be the company’s next big move in attracting users who want strong performance and reliable battery life without compromising on design.
