Meta is preparing to launch an advanced pair of smart glasses that could redefine wearable tech, and the latest leaks suggest they might not arrive under the name we were expecting. Originally codenamed Hypernova, the upcoming glasses are now tipped to debut as ‘Meta Celeste’ with features that go well beyond what we’ve seen in previous models like the Ray Ban Meta Glasses. These new smart glasses are rumored to come with a companion wristband called Ceres and are expected to be packed with gesture controls, muscle signal tracking, and even a built in game.

The leaked design hints at a frame that keeps the familiar Ray Ban aesthetic but with noticeable upgrades. The arms of the glasses appear slightly thicker to accommodate new hardware. Sensors and cameras are embedded on either side of the frame, while a touch bar on the left arm will reportedly allow users to take photos or record videos with a simple two finger tap. This design choice keeps the interface sleek while offering more control directly through the glasses.

Alongside the glasses, Meta is also expected to launch the Ceres eMG wristband. This wearable uses electrical muscle signal detection to allow pinch and gesture based interactions. According to early leaks, users might be able to scroll or select items on the smart glasses interface by simply pinching their fingers or rotating their wrists. The Ceres band could even support basic handwriting input using gestures, although this functionality may not be ready when the product first launches.

A major highlight is the addition of a built in mini game, reportedly called Hypertrail. This game is said to be inspired by the retro arcade classic Galaga, giving users a nostalgic way to interact with their smart glasses in moments of downtime. It is still unclear how this game will be played using the glasses and wristband, but the integration of casual gaming hints at Meta’s broader ambitions to create an immersive and entertaining smart wearable experience.

Early reports also mention that the glasses will run a highly customized version of Android and might include a single display located at the lower right portion of the right lens. This display could offer information or notifications in real time, acting as a discreet heads up screen. While the display capabilities are still under wraps, this suggests Meta is aiming for a blend of functionality and minimalism.

The official price has not been confirmed, but estimates suggest Meta Celeste could range between 1000 and 1400 US dollars, which would place it as a premium product in the wearable tech space. Given the features expected, including AI enhanced interaction, real time gesture control, and game integration, the pricing may align with early adopter interest and the high end specs offered.

With Meta’s continued focus on expanding into augmented reality and next generation wearables, the Celeste smart glasses could represent one of the company’s boldest steps yet. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming months, potentially pointing to a late 2025 or early 2026 launch.
